Follow the process
- 01
Open the relevant invoice
Start from the invoice that the customer has paid so the payment is connected to the right record.
- 02
Record the payment
Enter the supported payment details, including the amount received, and review them before saving.
- 03
Check the balance
The invoice balance shows what remains outstanding after recorded payments are taken into account.
- 04
Understand the status
A full payment supports a paid status; a smaller payment leaves the invoice part-paid with a remaining balance.
- 05
Review payment history
Use the invoice's payment history to understand the payments already recorded.
USEFUL TIPS
A few things worth checking
- Match the amount to the payment actually received.
- Record each payment against the correct invoice.
- Review payment history before recording a payment twice.
COMMON QUESTIONS
Where people can get stuck
Why is an invoice still outstanding?
Check whether the full amount has been recorded. A partial payment leaves a remaining balance.
Does recording a payment move money?
No. It records the payment in Tally Badger; it is not a bank transfer or payment-processing action.
